The Underbar is a movement where an individual swings their body under and often through a set of bars in a fluid and swift manner. The nature of the Underbar
Benefits of the Underbar?
In doing so this increases proprioception-(the sense of the relative position of neighboring parts of the body and strength of effort being employed in movement) and awareness of the posterior(back) side of the body, especially while it is in space and interacting with obstacles in close proximity.
Start low and get creative.
- Start low and find rails that are further apart.
- Don't run full speed the first time, sit down on the rail and interact with it and navigate through in slow motion.
- Focus on your hips, it is the easiest part of the body to be aware of when in space, plus it is our our center of mass as a species. The rest of the body will react properly.
- Lastly, have fun with it! Try different angles of approach, throw a spin out of the Underbar, start backwards, QM through, etc.
